PDO threads are on the cutting edge of Aesthetic procedures. They are a non-invasive treatment that stimulates neocollagenesis through the body’s natural healing process, which increases collagen and elastin fiber production and enhances blood flow. This will tighten the skin and improve overall texture and tone. PDO threads also give an immediate lift, and the results continue to improve over time.
There are a variety of PDO threads Dr. Monte Slater can use to address specific concerns and depending on what the skin goal is Dr. Slater will determine which threads to use. Lifting threads for example can be ideal for patients looking for a nonsurgical, immediate face lift and long-term collagen stimulation. Smoothing threads on the other hand are great for patients looking to address skin concerns such as scarring, rough texture, tone and skin tightening. Dr. Slater offers PDO Threads at two locations, Warner Robins, Georgia and in Atlanta, Georgia.
One of the reasons for individuals to desire a facelift is because as we age the skin tends to become less elastic and we lose bone mass. This causes volume loss in the face, which in turn causes sagging less lifted skin. PDO Thread-Lifting is a nonsurgical noninvasive procedure that requires no general anesthesia and is a less costly alternative to a face-lift or other more invasive procedures. The treatment tends to be ideal for persons that are not quite ready for a surgical procedure, or persons that want to rejuvenate and maintain beautiful lifted skin without the extensive downtime of a surgical procedure.
As mentioned above, certain types of threads allow for Dr. Slater to address concerns such as acne scarring, rough texture, assemmetry, and lines & wrinkles in specific areas.
The most common area is the face and the neck, however, Dr. Slater can also use PDO Threads to treat other areas of the body.
Many young people in their 20’s suffer from neck lines (necklace lines) and extra skin in the chin area pre-maturely. This is caused by constant cell phone usage which forces us to look down, and this is the reason PDO Threads are trending on Instagram and Tik Tok.
Dr. Slater often sees younger patients that complain about lines and wrinkles on the neck. This is what we refer to as the tech-neck syndrome. Young folks seeking solutions to minimize this condition ask us about the best methods. Because PDO threads help to stimulate collagen and elastin fiber production, Dr. Slater likes to utilize threads to smooth and plump those lines. In addition to PDO threads Dr. Slater may suggest the Subnovii Plasma Pen, Virtue RF Microneedling, CoolPeel laser, ThermiTight, and professional skin care to further enhance the results.
This in-office procedure typically takes approximately 30-45 minutes to complete.
You will see immediate results (30% aproximately) with best results seen about 3-months after the initial procedure. Of course, the exact time frame and overall outcome varies from patient to patient and largely depends on age, areas treated and genetics. No general anesthesia is needed and another benefit is that there is little to no recovery time after the procedure. Slight swelling, redness and bruising can be addressed with topicals provided by Dr. Slater.

* PDO threads are made of polydioxanone, a polymer used in medical sutures. In a thread lift procedure, PDO threads are embedded just beneath the surface of the skin with a cannula – the same flexible tool used to inject dermal fillers. The introduction of the threads to the skin kick starts collagen production in the area which leads to increased volume and firmness that can last up to 2 years in some cases.
Dr. Slater’s preferred brand at the moment is called “V-Soft Lift”, however over the years he has worked with PDO Threads made by other brands and he never rules out using other trending brands if the outcome benefits his patients. V-Soft Lift is FDA approved and medically safe to use.
